Mabel Segun (née Aig-Imoukhuede) was a trailblazing Nigerian writer, distinguished for her remarkable contributions to children's literature. Her seminal works, including 'My Father's Daughter', 'The Surrender' and 'Conflict and Other Stories', remain a testament to her literary prowess. A stalwart of the literary community, she served with distinction on the Board of Trustees of the Association of Nigerian Authors until her recent retirement, necessitated by advancing age. Throughout her tenure, she proved an invaluable asset, earning the esteem of her peers. We join the nation in mourning the passing of this esteemed scholar, whose indelible mark on our literary landscape will be deeply felt. We extend our sincerest condolences to her family. May she rest in eternal peace. The Nigerian literary community will sorely miss Mabel Segun, a luminary whose legacy will endure.
