ANA IMO report 2024
It was all eulogies and encomiums on 17th December, 2023 at the Whelan Research Academy, Wetheral Road, Owrri. Venue for the Reception at the ANA-Imo Secretrariat as members of the ANA Chapter gathered in their numbers to receive one of their own Mr. Camillus Chima Uka after his successful sojourn at Mammar Vatsa Wntes, Abuja, the nation;s as the leader of all literary craftsmen in Nigeria from 2020 –2023.
It was a homecoming of sort for the Owerri born writer, scientist turned culture administratoras he went down memory lane on the tussles and hiccups that proceeded his ascendancy to the position of ANA National President, the sad and botched, Enugu convention and the restoration at Kwara, up till his second term bid in the office .
He expressed delight that as against the maxim that a Prophet is without honour in his own town, ANA Imo his own Chapter not only stood by him through thick and thin but organizeda receptionin his honour upon his completion of the National Assignment.
The Chairman of the Chapter, Mr. Osinachi Emeghara had earlier in his remark described the Honourable as “the man who did what Napoleon could not do”with recourse to the development and transformation of the ANA Land and insisted that all Writers in Nigeria especially from the Southern Part of Nigeria should be proud of him. The event featured reminiscences, reading session, recitals and the high point of it was the presentation of a plaque to Mr. Ukah in appreciation of his sterling stewardship to Writers in Nigeria for four years.
ANA IMO Literary Contest
In keeping with its core mandates of inspiring and promoting amongst her members, the leadership of ANA-Imo recently held the first ever short story in April and prize for poetry in May 2024, both endowed by Mr.
Sylvester Nwokedi (Mbem Ijele)a one-time Financial Secretary of the
Chapter and a Veteran.
